Doyouok for Make Help

Setup guide, answers to common questions, and a free assistant for the Doyouok app for Make: alerts when a scenario misses a run or runs but returns the wrong result.

The Doyouok app is in review by Make. Once it is approved, it appears when you search for "Doyouok" in any scenario.
Ask the assistant
Hi! Ask me anything about the Doyouok app for Make: the API token, Report a Run, failures, alerts or plans.

Add the app

  1. The Doyouok app for Make is in review by Make. Once it is approved, add a module in any scenario and search for "Doyouok".
  2. The app has two modules: Report a Run, which reports one run of your scenario to Doyouok, and Make an API Call, which calls any endpoint of the Doyouok API.

Connect your Doyouok account

  1. Sign in to doyouok.com (the Free plan is enough) and open Profile > API tokens. Only the account owner can create tokens.
  2. Enter a token name such as "Make", press "Create token" and copy the token. It starts with dyo_ and is shown only once.
  3. In Make, add the Report a Run module, press Create a connection and paste the token into API Token. Make checks the token when you save the connection.

Monitor a scenario

  1. Add Report a Run at the end of the scenario, after the modules that do the work, and choose your Doyouok connection.
  2. Check: leave "A check by name (created on the first run)" and type a Check Name, such as the scenario's name. Or choose "An existing check" and pick a check from the list.
  3. Expected Interval (minutes): how often the scenario runs, for example 60 for hourly or 1440 for daily. Doyouok alerts you when no report arrives within this time.
  4. Result: Success or Failure. To decide by a condition, turn on Map next to Result and enter an expression that returns fail or success. Failure Reason is optional and is shown in the alert.
  5. Run the scenario once. The first run creates the check and takes about 15 seconds longer while the new check is activated. The check then appears on your Doyouok dashboard.

Example: a nightly import

  1. The scenario runs every day at 02:00. Module 2 calls your import API and returns { "total": 42 }.
  2. Report a Run: Check "A check by name", Check Name "Nightly import", Expected Interval 1440, Result mapped to if(2.total > 0; success; fail), Failure Reason "0 rows imported".
  3. If rows were imported, the run is reported as successful. If the import ran but imported 0 rows, the run is reported as failed and you get an alert. If the scenario did not run at all, no report arrives and Doyouok alerts you that the run is overdue.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The app is free. Each check uses one check from your Doyouok plan, and the Free plan includes 5 checks with no credit card. Starter includes 50 checks for $5/month. All plans are on the pricing page at doyouok.com/home/pricing.

Two kinds: a scenario that does not run on schedule (it was turned off, ran out of operations, or stopped on an error before the last module), and a scenario that runs but gives a wrong result, such as 0 rows imported. The second kind is a silent failure: Make shows the run as successful, so nobody notices.

No. With "A check by name" the module creates the check on the first run and reports to it on later runs. Changing Expected Interval updates the check on the next run.

A new check is activated about 10 seconds after it is created, so the first run waits about 15 seconds before it reports. Later runs don't wait.

The Check Name identifies the check, so a new name creates a new check on the next run. The old check stops receiving reports; delete it in Doyouok if you no longer need it.

Three ways: map Result to an expression that returns fail or success; add a Router with a filter on each route and a Report a Run with a fixed Result on each; or add Report a Run with Result Failure to an error handler route, so a scenario error is reported right away instead of waiting for the overdue alert.

The list shows checks created on doyouok.com, plus checks created by Make when your API token's name contains "make", for example "Make". Create a token with such a name, or create the check on doyouok.com.

Your Doyouok plan has no checks left for a new check. Delete checks you no longer need in Doyouok, or upgrade at doyouok.com/home/pricing. On Agency plans, create the check on doyouok.com with a client name, then choose "An existing check" in Report a Run.

The check's name and, for a failure, your Failure Reason. Alerts go to your email and to Telegram, Slack or Discord if you connected them on the Notifications page in Doyouok.

A check created by Make belongs to the scenario: its name and interval come from Report a Run. Change them in Make; Doyouok updates the check on the next run.

The Check Name, the expected interval, whether the run succeeded, and on a failure your Failure Reason. Your scenario's other data is not sent.

Yes. In Doyouok open Profile > API tokens and press Revoke. Report a Run checks the token on every run, so scenarios using that connection stop reporting and their checks alert as overdue until you remove the module or delete the checks.
